What is a TFR?
A TFR, or Temporary Flight Restriction, is a short-term airspace restriction issued by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for safety or security reasons. TFRs are often put in place around:
-
Rocket launches (like those at Kennedy Space Center)
-
Major events (such as sporting events or presidential visits)
-
Natural disasters or emergency operations
During an active TFR, certain areas are closed to general air traffic, including helicopter tours. Tour routes may be adjusted to stay compliant, but you’ll still enjoy incredible views of the surrounding areas — especially with routes like Intracoastal Explorer, perfect when TFRs are active.
