 Course Objective

To train and prepare qualified helicopter pilots to meet the knowledge, skill, and regulatory requirements for the Airline Transport Pilot – Helicopter Certificate under 14 CFR Part 61.

ATP Flight Time Requirements (14 CFR Part 61)

To be eligible for the ATP certificate (Rotorcraft-Helicopter), applicants must log:

• 1,500 hours total time as a pilot

• Within that time:

  • 35 hours of flight training in helicopters for ATP prep

    • Including 15 hours of instrument time

    • And 6 hours cross-country

• Flight instruction typically also includes:

  • Advanced systems and performance

  • High-density altitude operations

  • CRM (Crew Resource Management)

  • IFR operational procedures
